Local elected officials’ participation is often a key component of a public health project’s success. Elected officials may enhance public engagement and knowledge for a project. They often provide programmatic endorsement and budgetary support. Elected officials are also well-positioned to convene key stakeholders and cultivate strategic alliances. Join the National Association of Counties (NACo) for this webinar highlighting the importance of engaging local elected officials when working on public health projects.
During this webinar, the Honorable Toni Carter, Commissioner, Ramsey County, Minnesota, and Chair, NACo Healthy Counties Initiative, will discuss the role of local elected officials and answer commonly asked questions. HCCC Finalist Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, will also share how they have engaged Mecklenburg County elected officials in order to move the needle toward a healthier and more equitable community.
