Webinar Description:
In the Engaging Elected Officials webinar part 1, we examined the importance of engaging local elected officials in public health projects, recognizing that their participation is often a key component of a project’s success. However, getting elected officials on board with your project aims requires a solid, coordinated, and convincing approach. In this second part of the National Association of Counties’ Engaging Elected Officials webinar we will highlight some strategies for initiating meaningful engagement with elected officials/city leaders through the alignment of their agenda with your project goals.

The objectives are as follows:
  • Learn what motivates elected officials/city leaders to get involved with health-related initiatives Discover 3 strategies for approaching elected officials/city leaders:
    • Presenting potential budget and savings increase
    • Explaining the impact of your initiative
    • Storytelling
  • Hear personal examples from elected officials/city leaders on what approaches have helped get them involved in health initiatives previously
